What is Geocaching?
Geocaching is a high-tech scavenger hunt in which your group uses handheld GPS (Global Positioning System) navigation units to solve puzzles and find clues hidden on hundreds of acres of our farm.
No experience is necessary to operate the units. If your group can play video games, you’re good to go! We orient you to operate the units and the course, give you a map with a set of clues, and you’re off!
Geocaching is more than just a hike. Each clue helps you find a ‘waypoint.’ The waypoint is pre-programmed into the GPS unit. You select the point and the unit tells you which way to go to find the ‘Buried Buckets.’
Along the way you’ll explore fields, orchards, forests, streams, rocks, trails, berry patches, and so much more hidden on our rolling Pennsylvania farm. The scenery alone is worth the visit.
Great for Groups and Teambuilding
Build your group’s spirit. This is an eco-challenge that builds collaborative spirit and teamwork. The challenges include navigating, avoiding obstacles, solving puzzles, searching for clues, collecting game pieces, and developing a positive team dynamic.
You choose the course size that best fits your group’s age, needs, and schedule. Call us for assistance choosing the Geocaching course best suited for your group. We scale the course and goals to fit your training needs and your group’s abilities. Even large groups (150+) can challenge the short courses in regular field trip time.
Your Safety
We’re all about safety first at Maize Quest. The Geocaching Scavenger Hunt is a BIG game. To administrate this game, we’ve taken special care in selecting our equipment. Our GPS units have built-in radios to contact each group to administrate the game AND each unit reports its position back to our staff and your leaders. We know where each group is and can contact them at all times during the game.
